Pauline Pioneers
The first inspiration for the Pauline Family came on the night
between two centuries: December 31, 1900. This was the beginning
of a specific spirituality, the Pauline spirituality, which was
to be lived out in the modern world.
Spirituality, though the term may seem ethereal, involves a person's
concrete journey with God. Either the spirituality is concrete and
lived, or it is only an illusion. Like other spiritualities, the
Pauline spirituality is one which is lived out in ordinary life,
in the day-to-day challenges we all face as Christians. The men
and women who first lived this out; we call our Pauline pioneers:
Blessed Timothy Giaccardo; James Alberione; Thecla
Merlo; Mother Paula Cordero; Maggiorino
Vigolungo;Andrew Borello; Fr.
Francesco Chiesa; Mother Scholastica.
Not only has the Pauline spirituality
been lived out dynamically in the past, but it continues to be a
support for and stimulus towards holiness today for those who have
followed in our pioneers' footsteps.
