Prayer to the angels for those in the path of Hurricane Irma

To the angels who watch over us
our guardians who see the face of God
strong spirits who hold our hands
hearts of flame, loving God and guiding us on our way,
a silence shrouds the country as we wait out the storm
as we wade through the floods
as we worry about loved ones
as we evacuate and seek shelter

Go before us
watch behind us
shield us
protect us
bring us together
to care for each other

As you stand before the face of our Father in heaven
intercede for us
ask for mercy
hear our plea, when anxiety is our prayer,
and surprise us
with unexpected miracles of God’s tender care

Amen.
