This week, we are excited to share with you a “behind-the-scenes” facet of our Pauline apostolate. Meet Sister Khristina, the manager of our IT department! Sr. Khristina actually worked as a web and database programmer before she entered the Daughters of St. Paul, and now God has asked her to use those gifts for the spread of the Gospel!
As the IT manager, Sister Khristina facilitates communication between our team of Sisters and collaborators that work on our websites, network devices, and database systems. She is the Sister we call on when the internet goes down or our technology stops working. Her days can be spent in front of the computer or climbing ladders while on the phone troubleshooting the network!
This somewhat “hidden” apostolate provides the structure that allows us to share the message of the Gospel with all the people God is sending us. Kind of like the women in the Gospel who “provided for Jesus and the apostles out of their resources,” the IT apostolate provides for and supports the preaching of the Word of God.
Sr. Khristina shared these reflections on the IT apostolate: “On the way to my office one morning, our local superior told me someone’s computer had lost internet connection. I said a quick prayer and asked Jesus for help. And then I found a second-hand network cable in my mail slot, so I used it to replace the other cable and it worked!
“It’s not always that easy. And on difficult days, remembering that story reminds me to pray unceasingly and to allow God’s love, grace, and mercy to pass through my daily offering. At the end of the day, it’s humbling to look back and recall the times I’ve witnessed God’s providence through the people I interact with. I recall lessons learned (including mistakes made) or blind spots that were pointed out by others, and little miracles that may be attributed to our Saints in heaven, whom I call upon all the time!
“You might like to call on them, too! Jesus, Divine Master—for everything, and especially when I need to learn something new. Mary, Undoer of Knots—for tech issues that are hard to figure out. Blessed Carlo Acutis—for all our websites. Blessed James Alberione—for finding and working with collaborators all over. All you Pauline saints, pray for us!”
