Prayers for the Holy Souls in Purgatory

We pray for the souls in purgatory to soon be admitted into heaven, and we ask their intercession. Our prayers hurry along their purification and their prayers of intercession help us in many ways. One example of our Founder’s understanding of the power of this prayer is his encouragement to the sisters, when they are sent on a new assignment, to pray for the souls in purgatory, for their intercession for the mission and the people they would be rmeeting. This devotion to the souls in purgatory is a favorite of a number of our senior sisters. Their firm conviction, which has become my own, is that the souls in purgatory are good friends to have.

Prayer

Lord, my Creator and Redeemer, I believe that in your mercy you accept suffrages, particularly the holy sacrifice of the Mass for the souls in purgatory, for their relief and liberation. Stir up my faith and infuse in my heart sentiments of kindness toward these souls by offering prayers and sacrifices for these brothers and sister.

Eternal rest unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them, may they rest in peace. Amen

Lord, Jesus Christ, King of glory, through the intercession of Mary and all the saints, free the souls of the faithful departed from purgatory. And through the intercession of St. Michael, standard-bearer of the heavenly army, guide them to the holy light promised to Abraham and to his descendants. I offer you, Lord, sacrifices and prayers of praise. Accept them for these souls and admit them to eternal joy. I have confidence that these souls, once admitted to their eternal reward, will supplicate you on our own behalf before your throne in heaven.

Eternal Rest grant unto them O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them, may they rest in peace. Amen.

Daughters of St. Paul

Who We Are

The Daughters of St. Paul is a congregation of Catholic women living our vocation to consecrated religious life in service to God’s people by preaching the Gospel through all forms of media. Our profoundly Eucharistic spirituality roots us in Jesus so that no matter what we do—writing, graphic design, radio, video, social media, music, art—we may be a communication of Christ’s love to every person we encounter.

Discern Your Vocation

We regularly host opportunities for vocational discernment, providing a space for young women to learn about religious life and pray about where God is calling them. Get in touch with us to learn about events near you or to speak with a sister.

Be Part of the Pauline Mission

Pauline Cooperators are lay men and women who anchor their lives in the Pauline spirituality and who participate in the Pauline mission, which is the very mission of Christ, the proclamation of the Kingdom of God.
